2009 Dodge Ram Cutaway Model

Last month in Detroit, after Ford revealed the 2009 F-150 they also took the wraps off a slick cutaway model of the new half-ton pickup. Now, Dodge has done the same in Chicago for the 2009 Dodge Ram 1500.

Since most of the Ram's innovative features are around and under the bed, here are close-ups of those areas.

The tire, wheel, and cargo box have been shaved away to provide unobstructed views of the Ram's new 5-link coil sprung rear suspension (blue components), for improved ride and handling. You can also see the yellow-colored jounce bumpers that stop the live axle from hitting into the bottom of the frame after max acceptable spring compression has been reached.

And here are backside views, through clear panels, of the new RamBox storage compartments. Each RamBox provides 8.6 cu-ft of dry, lockable storage space - large enough to fit a golf club bag.
