Speaking
on behalf of the all-journalist selection committee, Tony Swan, senior
editor from Car & Drive magazine, announced the 2007 Chevrolet Silverado
as the North American Truck of the Year, beating out the Mazda CX-7 and
Ford Edge crossover vehicles.
Chevrolet
general manager, Ed Peper, accepted the award on behalf of General Motors,
heaping praise on behalf of the team that delivered the truck and graciously
acknowledging the Ford and Mazda offerings as rivals for the award.
