According to Reuters, Ford Motor Company is recalling over 650,000 Ford F-150 and Lincoln Mark LT pickups in North America to repair a potentially faulty brake hose that could cause the trucks to lose braking power.

Only 2005 and 2006 model year trucks with 5.4-liter V8 engines are included in the recall. The problem can occur if the brake hose detaches from the intake manifold, causing the driver to lose power boost to the brakes. Stopping would require extra force applied by the driver, according to Ford Motor Company's safety spokesperson Wes Sherwood.

To date the company is aware of 11 incidents caused by the brake hose problem.

Ford said customers in the United States and Canada affected by the recall could have brake hoses replaced at Ford dealerships starting in late June 2008.

Customers with questions can call 1-800-392-3673 for more information.
