While
Americans suffer with the Mitsubishi
Raider, overseas Mitsubishi sells its stylish and efficient L200
pickup.
In the UK,
Mitsubishi has just introduced a special performance version of the
L200 created with famed British tuning and racing guru Tom Walkinshaw.
The Walkinshaw Performance Special Edition L200 features tweaks to
the engine, suspension, exhaust and interior.
The L200's
inline 4-cylinder 2.5-liter diesel engine sees power levels boosted
to 168-hp, from 136-hp, through its 'Rallitronic' upgrade. Torque remains
a respectable 231 lb-ft. Twin stainless steel performance exhausts
are available separately.
Other upgrades
include: 20-inch
'Equinox' alloy
wheels and tires, Walkinshaw Performance leather seats, Walkinshaw
Performance decals, DVD satellite navigation system with 7
inch screen, cruise control, 'Mitsubishi Power' sound system,
Bluetooth connectivity, a CD Auto-changer and stainless steel fuel
filler cap, tailgate cover and door handle covers.
In addition,
buyers can opt for an overhauled suspension that includes: a revised
5 link rear suspension with coil springs over shocks, polyurethane
performance suspension bushings for improved axle control, rubber
performance suspension bushings to the chassis to reduce road noise
and Koni performance shocks front and rear.
The
Walkinshaw Performance L200 is available in Starlight Silver,
Cosmos Black, Graphite Gray, Aztec Red and Sapphire Blue, with metallic
and pearlescent paint as an additional option.
The
upgrades don't come cheap. Prices start at the equivalent of $42,500
for a manual L200 without the power boost to $45,000 for a Rallitronic
tuned automatic. The suspension and exhaust are available separately
for $5,130.
